Yomiato: Reading Log, No Stars

Mood-based book journal

What it does

Yomiato is a reading log with no star ratings.

What you keep isn't a score - it's the feeling after you finished: moved to tears, warm, or whatever fits. No ads. Your reading log stays on this device only.

  • For readers who
  • Want to remember what they read, without writing a review
  • Don't want to rate books with stars
  • Want their to-be-read pile treated gently, not as a guilt list
  • Want a bookshelf that's just theirs, not a social feed
  • What you can do
  • Scan a barcode to add a book in seconds (book data comes from the public openBD database)
  • Tag the feeling it left you with (moved to tears, made me laugh, warm... pick up to three of eight)
  • Add how it felt to read (light, ordinary, heavy)
  • Keep a favorite line as a quote, just as it was written
  • Books with no cover get a mood-colored cover of their own
  • Three shelves: want to read, reading, finished
  • Re-reads are tracked too, with as many finish dates as you like
  • A yearly summary looks back over everything you've read
  • Export and import a backup, so switching phones is no trouble
  • What this app doesn't do
  • No stars, no rankings
  • No reading quotas, no streaks pushing you along
  • No ads
  • Your reading log never leaves this device (the only thing sent anywhere is an ISBN, when you look up a book, to the public openBD database - never what you recorded)

We decided to call that feeling right after finishing a book "yomiato". May it quietly build up on your shelf.

No ads, no account. If anything leaves your phone, the screen that does it says so.
