AI Mushroom Field Notes

This app does not judge whether a mushroom is edible. Never use it to decide whether a mushroom is safe to put in your mouth.

AI Mushroom Field Notes is for observing, collecting and keeping the mushrooms you meet on a forest walk, a camping trip, or an ordinary stroll. It is not a tool for naming things. What a photo can show is the nearest family or genus, and the app will not declare a species.

[The nearest relatives, from a photo]

• From a photo you take, or one from your album, the AI inside your phone suggests family and genus candidates, such as "close to Amanitaceae / Amanita"
• Only two ways of saying it: "close" and "possibly close". No percentages
• When it does not know, it says so honestly: "could not find a close relative". It will not invent an answer

[Keep the day you met it]

• Save the photo and the date as an observation note
• A candidate can be attached to the note with a tap, but it is never treated as a confirmed species
• Location is not used. Your places are never recorded without you

[A field guide you can simply read]

• 15 families and 18 genera, written from scratch in Japanese and English
• Appearance / season / where you may meet it / clues for telling them apart / how it lives / a small surprising fact / a word from Sakura
• Every page names its sources (ja/en Wikipedia, GBIF Backbone Taxonomy)
• The guide can be read without taking any photo

• Mushrooms that look alike in colour and shape can belong to completely different groups
